Robert Morrissey has been behind a camera since 1988 when he first started classes at the Kansas City Art Institute. During his 3rd year of his schooling he interned with Nick Vedros a top advertising photographer. Inspired by working with Nick Vedros, Robert opened a studio of his own at the age of 19. By the time he was 20 he had been published all around the world. While attending his senior year Robert not only owned and operated his own photography studio he also worked with many other professionals in the Kansas City area. He assisted these photographers, learned as much as he could, then applied the techniques he learned to his paying assignments. After graduating with a B.F.A. in photography Robert “moved on,” selling his studio and traveling through the United States and Europe photographing everything that interested him.
After landing in Virginia Beach, Robert got a job with the Wright Studios. Working with Tim Wright, Roberts’s duties were running an E-6 lab and photographing catalog work for the Navy. This was the first time Robert was exposed to the professional digital camera. After this Robert went on to become a lead photographer for the University of Missouri Columbia, for a short time. At this position he helped introduce the uses of Photoshop as a tool for photographic illustration.
Once chosen by Phase-One to be a featured photographer Roberts’ carrier took off.
Currently the owner/photographer of Big Red Nose Productions, he still shoots international advertising campaigns, catalogs, and television commercials as a weekly routine. You may have seen his works in National Geographic Explorer, or in the Wall Street Journal, Time magazine or your local grocery store. His images are not for the editorial articles, Morrissey’s images are the ads in the middle of the stories.

That is the bio that is in the book. It tells a lot without truly reviling who I am as a person. I have decided to take an extra step here in this blog to open up more about who I am as a photographer and as a person. The reason I am doing this is because I think a photographer is made of two things the person behind the camera and their techniques they use to create their art work.
